The Watergate Inn is located within the vibrant and lively heart of York and is a very short walk to almost all of York's main attractions eg .Shambles , Jorvik Centre, Barbican, Minster etc.We are within the historic City walls in a fast upcoming locality that is rapidly becoming the ‘foodie’ part of town. There’s an excellent real ale brewery almost next door as well as plenty of lively local bars. Indeed, all visitor attractions, shops etc. are within an easy stroll.

There is very little sound insulation so we could hear every movement (and snoring) from the room above! Read less
Likes: Location was very central with easy access to all central attractions. Could park the car and felt it was secure. Staff were friendly and the bar was nice (when it was open.

While the staff were pleasant and kindly accommodated storing our luggage both before and after check-in, that (and the location) was really the only nice thing about this place. The room was incredibly small, did not seem very clean, and the bed was so uncomfortable that I hesitate to use the word "bed" to describe it. Also, someone obnoxiously & loudly knocked on our door (and others in the corridor) at 3am and again at about 5am. It was extremely disconcerting and disruptive. Read less
Likes: Location & the staff were pleasant and we very much appreciated their willingness to store our luggage when we arrived (we got there several hours before check-in) & for few hours after checkout.
Dislikes: The room was absurdly tiny and did not seem clean. The "bed" was the most uncomfortable thing we've ever slept on (counting floors!) and someone knocked loudly on the door at about 3am & again at 5am.
