Inglenook Cottage is only about 250 yards from the towering silhouette of Bamburgh Castle and is a Grade II listed building, with the front dating from the 17th century, while the rear is late Victorian. There is a pretty courtyard garden and beyond that a lawned area with herbaceous borders and mature trees.

You enter the cottage into an oak beamed side hall with a wide, inviting staircase, and a pair of spacious living rooms on the ground floor. The front room has an unusual inglenook fireplace which accommodates a good wood/coal-burning stove. There are some very handsome pieces of furniture here including a fine Victorian tallboy chest and corner cupboard. The dining room, with an open fireplace, second bathroom and fully fitted kitchen are at the back of the house, which is centrally heated with Economy 7.

The stairs have a middle landing, off which there is a double-bedded room looking onto the Grove, church and sea beyond. Upstairs is the bathroom and two further bedrooms overlooking the garden.

The popular seaside resort of Bamburgh has grown up around the formidable red sandstone Castle, ancient home of the Kings of Northumbria, towering 150 feet above the sea. The other great architectural landmark here is St Aidan's Church, dating from Norman times. Earlier in the 7th century Saint Cuthbert had lived on his own for a time on the Inner Farne. Today, the boat trip out to the Farnes from the nearby fishing village of Seahouses, is much favoured by visitors interested in seeing the bird and seal sanctuary. To the north lies Holy Island (or Lindisfarne) which is reached over a causeway at low tide.
